    Description

This contemporary, designer property offers 380 m2 of exquisite accommodation over three floor with a lift connecting the upper floors. Your holiday privacy is guaranteed with electric gates and a video entryphone and there is easy wheelchair access if necessary. Villa Jefferson sleeps up to 10 guests in five double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom plus there is the flexible option of two extra guests on sofa beds in two of the larger bedrooms. The beds are all extra-long for taller guests and the bed linen is of superior quality. The views from the large windows in the rooms are magnificent with the water, the twinkling evening lights and a glorious mountain landscape. The whole feel of the house is one of light, fresh air and is influenced by the reflections from the blue of the lake.

The clean, spacious lines of the modern kitchen will entice you into recreating some of the delicious local dishes or you could always get a private chef in for evening to prepare your meal as you sip aperitifs by the pool. You can choose to either eat indoors at the long, panoramic table or outside al fresco on the patio overlooking the swimming pool and the lake.

There is a gorgeous sitting room decorated in soft, natural colours if you just want to kick back and watch TV at home for the afternoon.

Most of your time at home will probably be spent outside in and around the swimming pool or simply relaxing in a shady corner of the terraced gardens pretending to read a weighty book as you watch the boats go by. You’ll have your own private jetty for boats trips exploring the lake or for a quick dip in the refreshing blue waters.

The world-famous Lake Como is home to a whole host of intellectuals, artists and celebrities. It has been an elite destination since the times of the Roman Empire and its glamorous inhabitants, deep blue water, wooded hillsides and dramatic Alpine backdrop are guaranteed to find a lasting place in your heart. Faggeto Laria also dates back to Roman times and is part of a marvellous beach front promenade that stretches from Como in the south to Bellagio in the north. You’ll find plenty of beach bars, a buzzing summertime fun-time atmosphere and excellent swimming thanks to the circulation of fresh water flowing from the mountain sources. If you fancy some star-spotting while you’re here, George Clooney’s photogenic summer residence is almost opposite Property 1637597807 on the western shore of the lake. The traditional cuisine of the area is a mouth-watering blend of water and mountain tastes; the local fish dishes are divine and often served with polenta. The sweet-toothed among you will be unable to refuse the miascia, which is a cake recipe of ancient origins containing all the best of the local ingredients!

Bellagio is known locally as La Perla del Lago (the pearl of the lake) for its outstanding beauty, quality restaurants, local trattorias, chic shopping and of course the famous Italian homemade gelato ice cream. Pretty Moltrasio across the water is the picturesque town that inspired the composer Vincenzo Bellini to write his opera La Straniera and part of La Sonnambula here. The fashion designer Gianni Versace had a house in Moltrasio and during their time, both Napoleon Bonaparte and Winston Churchill were frequent visitors. Cernobbio dates back to the 12th century and sits at the foot of Mount Bisbino and offers everything you might need in the way of shops, restaurants and services. There is also a wonderful viewpoint, known locally as the Riva di Cernobbio. The larger town of Como is a twenty minute drive and contains numerous churches, works of art, museums, theatres, palaces and public gardens. For the walkers, there is a funicular which runs up to the village of Brunate, 700 metres above Como. It is the starting point for some spectacular walking trails and has superb views of the Alps. Como is famous for its silk and you can either see the full silk-making processes or just sit in the lively piazzas and watch the world go by. Como also hosts various international speed boat races and becomes a magnet for the rich and famous.

Villa Jefferson is well-served by public transport with plenty of buses running around the lake to the various towns. Como is a twenty minute drive, Bellagio, Moltrasio and Cernobbio are all half an hour from the property. Milan’s Malpensa international airport is only 62 km from the villa, the city of Milan is 45 km or less than an hour’s drive.
